If you are are looking for a fool-proof, delicious and crowd pleasing dessert they don't come much simpler than these baked beurré bosc pears. After an hour in the oven they turn out beautifully caramelised, sweet and sticky. They go perfectly with a scoop of ice cream and they are delightful served up at breakfast with granola and coconut yoghurt. Enjoy!
4 beurré bosc pears, sliced in half lengthways and core removed (I use a melon baller to do this)
¼ cup 100% pure maple syrup*
The zest of half an orange and the juice of the whole orange 1 vanilla pod, split and seeds scraped (or 1 tsp of vanilla powder or 1/2 tsp vanilla extract)
½ tsp ground cinnamon
* make sure you buy pure maple syrup and not the maple "flavoured" syrup which is full of added sugar/artifical sugars, artificial colours and preservatives
Preheat oven to 180 degrees celcius.
Place the sliced pears in a baking dish.
Add the rest of the ingredients to a separate bowl and mix to combine. Pour the mixture over the pears and toss gently to combine.
Bake for approximately 50-60 minutes or until tender and caramelised.
